Lazy dog red is made Bayhawk Brewery in Irvine California. Lazy Dog is offshoot from the Mimi’s restaurant chain. The owners like to vacation to Jackson Hole Wyoming and so the theme is heavy wood beams and black iron straps. Expanding out from their home base in Orange County, there are many locations in Southern California. Of course the restaurant is very dog friendly. Not inside, but out on the patio. My first beer was the Lazy Dog Red Ale. This red is citrusy not hoppy at all and quite unremarkable. Then I tried the Big IPA, a guest draft, this one has the hoppyness and bitterness that I’ve been accustom to with IPAs. This one is piney maybe a hint of malt, anyways it was more exciting.
The burger I ordered was the Baja with Ortega chilies tomatoes lime jalapeño aioli spice. The guacamole makes it slippery and we ordered it with grilled onions vs raw. The burger was cooked well and was delicious. The fries were good too, no need to upgrade to Cajun unless you have a hot tooth. The burger was half pounder, so do yourself a favor and come hungry.
Over all I would say the service was excellent and friendly. The beer was OK, but I have become a bit of a beer snob as of late.
