While antiquing in San Diego, we decided to find a beer and burger joint nearby. It was a Sunday, downtown and midtown had a lot of traffic, and little in the way of parking. However, we did manage to find Crazee Burger on 30th street which was in North Park, our old old stomping grounds. This is a cute little bistro that serves a wild variety of burgers. Known for it’s exotic burgers like lamb, venison, ostrich, buffalo, salmon and even alligator. I was happily surprised that they had good compliment of micro brews on draft.
I would have tried the gator burger, but I wasn’t in the adventurous mood, however, next time I am here I definitely will. I just went with a simple cheese burger well with pepper jack cheese. Fries are extra so I ordered the crazee fries which are sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. They also have sweet potato fries too. You have to order at the counter and your food is brought out to your table. I was impressed with the girl that took my order because she rejected the first glass that she pulled from the cooler and she took special care when pouring the draft making sure it was presentable. There are many times when you don’t see that. The beer I ordered was called Mongo IPA from Port Brewing in San Marcos California. It was a dandy. Kinda fruity, but very thirst quenching for an IPA.
The decoration is eclectic, sort of artsy with some photos and paintings hanging above the tables. It is small and cozy. Service is prompt and friendly. Over all this is a great place to visit when you are in the San Diego area. They also have another location at Oldtown San Diego.
